Strength Training

Muscle man, strong man, for what are your biceps?
They are nothing but temporary.
Does this power reside in depth?
Do you lift weights to cover your insecure being?
Do you train and sweat without His vision seeing?
Running is futile without a centered mindset.
Called body builder, you must not live in regret.
Lift your iron bars in the presence of God.
Be led by His Word and the guidance of his rod.
I pray that beads of sweat roll down your rippled back,
As you work with effort and meaningful muscle you stack.
For power is powerless and strength is dead,
Without the Lion of Judah’s claws of thick lead.
When working in Christ, we are armored in steel.
When walking in his footsteps fearless confidence we feel.
Warrior working toward strength, climb the mountain knowing,
When living a life sacrificed, your muscles will be showing!

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 (The Message)
“Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don't see many of "the brightest and the best" among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn't it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these "nobodies" to expose the hollow pretensions of the "somebodies"? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That's why we have the saying, "If you're going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God."
