Day 4: Mighty

Having or showing great power, skill, strength, or force:

One of my favorites songs has a line in it which states, "God, you are MIGHTY to save." When thinking on the word "might" I envision a boulder. Gray and thick in appearance, this rock cannot be moved. It sits on a hillside or mountain top. Hikers can rest against it, climb on top of it or stand on the surface and it remains unaltered.

God is this boulder. He is the Rock that cannot be shaken, unearthed or exhumed. He is MIGHTY-full of strength and physical power. His hand heals the sick and his voice calms the seas. He is the resting place for his children. He beckons us to lean on him. He eases our troubles and allows up to place our burdens on him.

Father,

You are the MIGHTY Rock. I lean on you when storm clouds in circle and when sunshine lights my face. You are the one that gives me strength and power. You enable my feet to dance, climb and stand firm. God, your might assures me that you will always be there for me. Your presence brings power and your whispers true peace!

In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Day 3: Awe

an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, fear, etc., produced by that which is grand, sublime, extremely powerful, or the like: in awe of god; in awe of great political figures.

God leaves me speechless. His wonders fills my heart with wonder. Looking at creation, I see his handiwork. He covered the birds with warm feathers, breathed air into the whales under the sea - he put an armor on the turtle to make up for his speed. God's wonders make me weak at the knees.

His power has been present from the beginning of time. His awesome provision only grows stronger as we commit our ways unto the Lord. Every morning his mercies are new. Each morning I should desire to say, God you are awesome. Today, I long to walk and work through you.

Maker of All,

You are awesome. I marvel at your wonders. Creation sings of your majesty, God. The rocks and mountains cry out in astonishment. You have carved the caverns and breathed life into all. With hands like mighty tree trunks, you have blocked evil from our lives. Thank you, Lord. May your goodness endure forever!

In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Day 2: Wisdom

The quality or state of being wise; knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight.

Wisdom is a gift. It’s not something you strive for or achieve. Wisdom is not just knowledge. It is a state of being. Someone who is wise is not just intelligent, they are good evaluators. They read people and emotions. They act in discretion; but act decisively.

God is the source of all wisdom. He is not only knowledgeable; but, God is wise. He is discerning. His eyes are wide open. He is an observer and grants wisdom to those he knows will value it and treat it as a gift. Job 12:13 states, “To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his!”

Lord,
You are the foundation of all knowledge. You are not only great, passionate and powerful, you are wise. Lord, your provision is needed and your guidance is always right. Lord, you are the man that lights my soul. You ignite my eyes. Grant me wisdom, Lord, the wisdom that originates in your heart.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 1: Defend

To drive danger or attack away from

Can you picture it? A knight dressed in full armor with a sword in one hand and a torch in the other. He stands guard in front of a castle—the castle you sleep soundly inside. Winds blow violently against the stone fortress. Dragons with fire breath soar over head. But, you are safe because there is a statuesque defender stationed right outside the castle walls.

God is our defender. He is the warrior that runs ahead in battle and plunges the first sword into the enemy. He will defend his children from evil. He will shield his followers from ultimate despair. Praise the Lord of hosts! He stands guard and protects his people!

Oh Great Defender,

Thank you for shielding me from evil. You always listen to my cries and go before me. You have won the battle, God. I will shout for victory! My defender is the King of Kings! Your beauty, bravery and love, God, have truly conquered all!

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Isaiah 37:35
I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant.

365 Days of Words

Words can build up or tare down. They can inspire or disenchant. For most of my life I have had a love affair with words. Small words, long words, poetic phrases-when reading these aloud my heart pumps with a stronger passion. It beats with a melodic rhythm. If you think about it, Jesus' words are inked in red in the Bible...that's how important words are to the soul.

For 365 days, I am going to write about a single word. It may be a simple one; however, through simplicity people tend to gain the most significant insight. This will be a journey, one I hope you will will travel with me.

Words impact people and people impact the world. Duet 11: 18 notes, "Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads."

I pray you will walk down the pebble stones of peace this year with me and let words enlighten your heart and allow your spirit to soar!
